Bhubaneswar, Aug 26: At least four persons were killed when members of two communities clashed in Barkhama village under Baliguda Block of Kandhamal district of Odisha on Tuesday afternoon.
According to reliable sources, the clash took places when members of the majority community set some houses and shops of the minority community on fire.
Both the sides used bombs and firearms during the clash, according to sources. The incident took place around 4 pm.
The situation was brought under control by a police party that reached the spot and fired in the air, sources said.
While police recovered two bodies from the spot, two bodies were reportedly taken away by the people involved in the clash.
However, it was not clear whether the four persons killed in the incident were Hindus or Christians.
In the violence that had been triggered by the killing of VHP leader Swami Lakshmanananda on Saturday night, one person was burnt to death in Rupa village in Kandhamal district on Sunday night.
On Monday, a woman inmate of an orphanage was burnt alive in Bargarh district during the VHP-sponsored bandh.
Further, three more persons were killed when their house set on fire in a village in Raikia area of Kandhamal district late on Monday night.
